Executive summary
Following healthy growth during 2007–2008, the progress of the Czech construction industry was halted by the global financial crisis, which caused the industry to decline by 4.9% in 2009, 6.2% in 2010 and 12.1% in 2011. As a result of the uncertain economic environment, the majority of construction projects that relied on private financing were postponed or cancelled in the latter half of 2009 and early 2010. In 2011, the value of the Czech construction industry stood at CZKXXX.X billion (US$XX.X billion), a decline of CZKXX.X billion (US$X.X billion) over 2010.

• The Czech construction industry is not expected to have any significant cost pressure until the EU economy revives, as the crisis is putting downward pressure on construction material prices.
