Senegal, officially the Democratic republic of of Senegal, is in west Africa and borders The Gambia, Mauritania, Mali, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
Senegal has a population of 13.7 million and is a semi-presidential republic. The capital is Dakar which has a population of 1.0 million. Senegal is 166th on the Human Development Index.
