Algeria, officially the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, is in north Africa and borders Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali and Niger.
Algeria has a population of 34.9 million and is Semi-presidential republic. The capital is Algiers which has a population of 1.5 million. Algeria is 104th on the Human Development Index.
Algeria is a member of the UN and an observer government of the WTO.
