Robots
Hi. You've probably been directed to this page through something like this in your server logs:
Timetric/1.0 (Python/httplib2, http://timetric.com/about/robots/)
- What is Timetric?
For a full explanation, see our About page. But the reason why you've come across us is that as part of our service, we pull in all sorts of interesting public data, and make it more useful to the world.
If you've found the message above in your logs, it means we're pulling data from your site! - What are you doing with the data you've pulled from my site?
We're processing it, loading it into our database, and turning it into graphs. The easiest way to find your data is probably to search the site (type into the box at the top-right hand corner, or go to our search page). - There's other data that I host that I think you might be interested in.
Great! Please tell us about it! - Can I re-use the graphs you've made of our data, or link to Timetric from my site?
Yes, please do! All of the graphs on Timetric are embeddable and reusable, and we make it really easy - it's about as hard as putting a YouTube video on to your site. You can use and re-use our graphs anywhere you like. - How do you decide what data to retrieve?
A combination of two things; we're looking for data that we think other people will look interesting, and for data that fits in well with other data that we already have. - How do you check whether you're allowed to access the data?
We ensure that the data is licensed for re-use and re-distribution, and we respect the commonly-used web conventions for automatic web robots: robots.txt. - You shouldn't be pulling in this data!
Sorry! We do make every effort to ensure that the data we pull in is properly licensed, and that redistribution is permitted. However, sometimes we make a mistake. Please let us know and we'll fix the situation as fast as we can.
