Engineers

As a Timetric engineer, you’ll be involved in every part of our products from day one, which means you’ll be shaping how people communicate with statistics from the ground up. We practice continuous deployment - we’ll expect you to have code in production at the end of your first day.

We won’t expect you to know everything you might need to do before you start here, but we will expect you to be willing to get stuck in and to learn fast. We’re willing to take a gamble on potential. Show us what you’ve done before, but we care more about what you're going to do.

All our current openings are listed below, and we'd love to hear from you if you fit the bill for any of them.

But even if there's nothing directly relevant, we're always looking for people who've got strong Python or Javascript skills and who are interested in data management and visualization. If you've got something to offer us, but there's no suitable role currently listed, please get in contact anyway!

Django Developer (contract)

Timetric are looking for a Django Developer to help us rapidly build out a new suite of services.

You'll need to have

  • Excellent Python/Django experience
  • Very comfortable within Linux environment.
  • Working knowledge of bash scripting.
  • Experience of using distributed version control, ideally git.
  • Comfortable with HTML/CSS.
  • Comfortable with Javascript & jQuery

And any of these would be a bonus:

  • Chef experience
  • Familiarity with AWS stack.
  • General understanding of devops issues.
  • Numerical/scientific/mathematical background.
  • Working knowledge of economics.

This is for a temporary contract; rates are negotiable.

Dev-ops engineer

Timetric pulls data from hundreds of sources. We have to sort it all out, and we have to provide meaningful access to it. We have to provide tools to let our staff curate it and provide content around it. We do all this through services communicating on, and through the web; we believe whole-heartedly in the web as architecture.

We also believe strongly in the devops philosophy - there aren’t any dedicated sysadmins here. All our deployment and server configuration is fully automated; written and maintained by our backend staff.

We’d love to hear from people who are enthused by the problems of handling complex data; in building resilient systems, and in providing a service the world needs.

You'll need to have:

  • Python (or significant Ruby experience).
  • Very comfortable within Linux environment.
  • Working knowledge of bash scripting.
  • Chef experience (or other automated configuration management tool).
  • Familiarity with AWS stack.
  • General understanding of devops issues.
  • Experience of using distributed version control, ideally git.
  • Experience of working with open-source tools.

And it would be really great if you also had some of:

  • Comfortable with basic HTML/CSS.
  • Comfortable with Javascript.
  • Django experience.
  • Postgres experience.
  • Numerical/scientific/mathematical background.
  • Working knowledge of economics.
  • Published open-source software author.

UI Designer/Developer

Timetric provides interfaces for exploring and analysing all our millions of series; we provide visualizations that are embedded on high-traffic media sites.

We use cutting-edge web technologies to make this happen; we’re trying to make products that work with the web, that are built with a fundamental understanding of the flows of information the web enables.

We also deeply appreciate the importance of UX, and particularly of the unique problems presented by making meaningful yet beautiful data visualizations.

If you care about showing people the data that runs the world around them, and in making it understandable and usable, then you should come and work with us.

You need to have:

  • Strong HTML/CSS implementation capabilities.
  • Familiar with cross-browser issues.
  • Very comfortable with Javascript.
  • Modern browser technologies/CSS3/SVG
  • Good eye for design.
  • Appreciation of UX issues.
  • Experience of using version control, ideally git.

And it would be really great if you also had some of:

  • jQuery experience
  • Experience of data visualization.
  • Python/Django experience.
  • Comfortable within command line Mac/Linux environment.
  • Experience of working with open-source tools.
  • Numerical/scientific/mathematical background.
  • Working knowledge of economics.
  • Published open-source software author.
