Timetric are looking for engineers and economists. We’re an exciting company, and we’ve got a mission to make data accessible. The work we do is highly visible in digital media and around the web. Our London office is in Hatton Garden in the centre of town: we're in the middle of the dynamic East London tech and media scene; we’re close to Fleet Street, the heart of London’s historic publishing industry; and we’re near to the economic and financial hub of the City of London.
We're currently looking specifically for the roles below - but if you'd like to talk to us about any other possibilities, we're always interested in hearing from people who'd like to be part of a growing company with big ideas, who want to change the way the world sees data. Whether you're an developer excited by making data useful, or an economist enthused by using data, we're opening up the world by taking a deluge of pubilc data and making it comprehensible - if that 's your bag, we'd love to chat.
Please contact us at jobs@timetric.com.
Engineers
Timetric is a company with a vision. We want to give the world better tools for understanding data.
Our visualizations appear on high traffic media sites like the Guardian - work we do here is highly visible where it matters.
We like to share what we're doing technically as well – we've made key parts of our software open source, like our in-browser vector graphing library, Raphlot, or our Solr/Python library, Sunburnt.
And we like to talk about it – we regularly participate in the London developer community, and we've hosted several meetups. We encourage everyone to maintain a public profile and be open about their work - it's good for you and it's good for us!
All our current openings are listed below, and we'd love to hear from you if you fit the bill for any of them. But even if there's nothing directly relevant, we're always looking for people who've got strong Python or Javascript skills and who are interested in data management and visualization. If you've got something to offer us, but there's no suitable role currently listed, please get in contact anyway!
Python/Django developer
We’re looking for Python developers to build our data visualization and publication platform. We develop in Python/Django and Javascript, so any JS experience is a huge plus.
You’ll be joining a small team: there’s not a lot of process. We practice continuous deployment, and we can provision a dev environment with one click, so you'll have code live before the end of your first day.
You’ll work across the whole stack. We don’t expect you to know everything you need to do before you start, but you'll learn fast.
You need to have:
- Python experience.
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
- Used to working with git (or mercurial, or bzr).
And it would be really great if you also had some of:
- Django experience.
- Understanding of HTML/CSS (especially recent standards development).
- Javascript.
- Devops leanings.
- Numerical/scientific/mathematical background.
- Interest in economics.
and if you've published or contributed to any open-source software, then tell us about it!
Devops Engineer
We're looking for a devops engineer to manage and grow our data mining and visualization platforms. You'll need to have used Chef, Puppet, or a similar system.
You'll be comfortable working in heterogenous systems, and very focussed on making things work. Although you'll mostly be working with our data mining product, built in Java, you'll be just as happy stringing bash scripts together, or integrating with our Python/Django visualization stack.
You’ll be joining a small team: there’s not a lot of process overhead. We don’t expect you to know everything you need to do before you start, but you'll learn fast.
You need to have:

- Understanding of AI/ML techniques.
- Interest in economics.
and if you've published or contributed to any open-source software, then tell us about it!
Economists
Timetric has a team of economists covering the world's emerging markets. Although we don't have openings right now, we will be looking to take more economists on later this year. However, we're always interested in interesting people - if you think you might be interested in working with us later on, pleasedo get in contact, or just drop us your CV at jobs@timetric.com
